A promise not to disclose information is covered by a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) sometimes called a confidentiality agreement. The number one error in this is limiting it to a term of years, while some information may be disclosed after a term of years, trade secrets should be protected perpetually, or as long as the holder complies with the definition of trades secret as it applies to the secret (formula, customer list, recipe, etc.). In the USA, the Defend Trade Secret Act (the whistleblower protection provisions) requires notice or damages may be waived.
